| PGA District Optimist of the Year Award Each year the Past Governors Association sponsors and presents the District Optimist of the Year Award. The award is presented to a member who, through their actions, shows a dedication to the organization, the District and the kids we serve. Nominations for the award are accepted from any member of the District, and from the members of the PGA. Nominees must be a member in good standing of a Club in good standing within the Kentucky-West Virginia District. Members of the PGA select the award recipient from amongst the nominations received, considering the service the nominee has given during the past year to his or her Club, Zone and most especially the District. The PGA considers such things as amount of time spent in service, Club offices held, District positions held, and the impact the nominee has had on the members of the District and the kids we serve. The most emphasis is placed on the nominee's District service. Nominations must include a list of the various offices and positions in the Club and District held by the nominee, a listing of the community and Optimist service performed, the nominee's Club affiliation and a written reason for the nomination by the individual making the nomination. The nominator's name and Club affiliation must also be included. Nominations for the 2007-2008 award will be accepted through June 30, 2008. Nominations may be submitted online by clicking here and completing the online form. Nominations may also be submitted by mail to Past Governor David L Prather, 315 Cedar Way, Frankfort KY 40601.
